Website update and new binary releases!

Hi,

As you may have noticed I’ve given the website a bit of a tidy-up. I definitely struggle with web design stuff so it’s not nearly as good as I’d like it be, but still, I think it’s an improvment! If nothing else, it makes for a nice change.

There are also some prebuilt v1.1.01 releases now available from the files section to celebrate, although for some reason, the windows version has turned into a 250M beast! That’s getting too big for my liking so I’ll probably look into getting Ted2 to build modules/documentation the first time it’s run instead of shipping them with releases in future, but for now you’re stuck with a rather large download sorry.

I am also pleased to announce that the new releases also include ‘Ted2go’ as the default IDE. Ted2go is a Ted2 fork by Evgeniy Goroshkin (otherwise known as nerobot on the forums) who has done near miraculous stuff with Ted2 considering the rudimentary state of  things!

Ted2 will remain in the monkey2 repos for a while yet, but Ted2go has also been added as a ‘submodule’. For people who like to build from source, ‘rebuildall’ still builds old Ted2 but you can now also use ‘rebuildall2go’ to build Ted2go instead. Unfortunately, dealing with submodules is a little complicated (for one thing, they’re not included in the zips you download from github) so I haven’t made ted2go the default for ‘rebuildall’ just yet.

Finally, Tony of playniax has submitted his Pyro framework module for publishing – it’s gots lots of useful stuff in it and it’s up now at the ‘modules’ page. Definitely lookng forward to whole enchilada Pyro-wise!

Whew! I’ll probably write more tomorrow, but it’s been a LONG couple of days and I’m a bit shagged so for now…

Bye!
Mark

  1. One thing:)

I keep having to re-login on this website. Even with the remember selected. On the monkey and bb site I never have to do this. Can this be fixed?

I wil check out the new version of mx2.

  3. Looks like we lost the link/button the GitHub?

Look at the bottom link on Files section.

    Glad to hear.:)

  4. @dmaz  The date of post is incorrect. I think Mark simple edit post instead of creating new one, so there is an old date.

  5. Love the new darker website theme!

    Thanks!

Strange, what browser/OS are you using?

    “Posted on June 30th, 2016”

Yeah, I just reused the old files page. “Updated on…” would probably be more informative but not sure wordpress does that. It’s a strange beast, this wordpress thing…

Whew! Always the scariest bit of a major update. And when it goes wrong, it’s usually just something stupid I did while ‘packaging’ things.

  6. when rebuilding with rebuildall2go and rebuildted2go gives an error on mac:
    Build error: Can’t find Main:Void()
I had to update it from ted2go repository to get it to work.

WIndows 10 and Chrome. Happens on my two systems. Must have logged in more then a dozen times already.

  8. WIndows 10 and Chrome.

What version of Chrome? I’m on Windows 10 + Chome 54.0.2840.99 m here and have never had any problems.

Can you try a different browser?

    Any one else?

I have had this problem ever since the mx2 website went up months ago. My chrome is usually up to date. I wil also log on with explorer and see if that stays logged in.

  10. I occasionally get logged out too, on Firefox/Windows 7.

New release worked great, no hassle at all! Unpacked and ran right away.

Demos seemed to run fine (just tried a load at random).

I notice Ted2/Go doesn’t load .monkey2 files when you’ve associated .monkey2 files with it and you double-click one of them in Explorer — that would be nice to have. It seems to handle drag-and-dropping of multiple files just fine, so presumably just missing a startup parameters check — I tried “Monkey2 (Windows).exe” hello-world.monkey2 from command line too, just runs the editor.

I tried adding this at the end of MainWindowInstance.New to no effect (running from command line as “Monkey2 (Windows).exe” hello-world.monkey), not sure where it should really go! This may be slightly naive…
    For Local startupDoc : String = 1 Until AppArgs ( ) . Length mojox . Alert ( startupDoc , "File:" ) ' _docsManager.OpenDocument( startupDoc,True ) Next
    That code’s white-on-white in posting mode…

Er, editing post makes a big mess of code box!

  11. Loving the demos included with Monkey 2, the Ted2Go IDE is a treat on the eyes, I’m still loving compiling in HTML5 in MonkeyX and the amount of bang for the buck that was there (takes me longer these days to get up to speed with stuff)…. I could go on forever though about BRL’s products too date. Great work

Well done. This makes it easy for me to use it and Ted2go has some welcome features.

Also a welcome addition.  I’m also looking forward to what Playniax delivers.
